Kolletikota is very famous for ancient temple *SRI PEDDINTLAMMA THALLI TEMPLE* this temple is under *devadhya dharmadhaya shaka* of govt of ap. one of the temple trust board committee member is *BALE GANESH*(srungavarappadu). this temple was constructed during 11th century. the idol of goddess pedintlamma is 9feet with pleasant eyes and with cheerful face.
In ap the largest natural fresh water lake is KOLLERU. kolletikota is an eastern islands of kolleru lake. it covers 135sq.mts. kolleru lake flows through 145 villages in which 105 villages in 7mandals of west godavari district. remaining 40 villages in kaikalur and mandavalli mandals of krishna district. Kolleru is called DHAKSHINA KAASI RANGA. the island in the middle of lake kolleru is called KOTA DHIBBA (kolletikota). the fishermen(VADDIS) in this village worship sri peddintlamma as their KULA DHAIVAM. these fishermen migrated to this island during 11th century from orissa. as their main occupation is fishing(chepalaveta).
ABOUT FESTIVAL
The annual festival begins from palguna suddha padyami to pournami. kalyanam is on palguna suddha dwadasi. on palguna dwadasi every year kalyanam will be for jaladurga and gokarneswara swamy by peddintlamma thalli. gokarneswara swamy temple is in gokarnapuram away from kolletikota by 3miles distance. this temple was constructed in 11th century by langula gajapathi raju a surya vamsi of kaasi gotra (VADDI RAJULU). with the help of elephants. on the occassion of kalyanam pedda praba and chinna praba(radhams) will come to kolletikota from pandiripallegudem(kotalanka). The villagers of this village believe that poisnous snake bite of indian cobra does nothing to them beacause of thella gilledu plant in underground of the island. before these plants are on the surface of island due to sand sedimentation and sand over turns happend in ancient days merged the plants inside the ground.
